Amber Beverage Group has agreed a listing with British online supermarket Ocado for Rooster Rojo Tequila.
The UK’s biggest online grocery retailer will stock Rooster Rojo’s range, including Blanco, Reposado and Añejo. The deal is being managed through UK-based distributor Cellar Trends, which was acquired by Amber Beverage Group (ABG) last year.
Simon Thomas, ABG managing director UK and CEO of Cellar Trends, said: “We are incredibly excited to be working with Ocado right now. The Tequila category is booming and we have a fantastic opportunity to educate consumers not just on Rooster Rojo Tequila but the category as a whole, on the Ocado platform.”
According to ABG, Tequila is outperforming the wider spirits category in the UK, growing by 3% in volume and 6% in value in 2019 (WSTA Market Report April 2020).
Gary Hyde, spirits buyer at Ocado, said: “It is really exciting to be able to extend our Tequila range to include Rooster Rojo Tequila. Its innovative and striking packaging will really appeal to the Ocado shopper and support the growing consumer interest in Tequila, particularly with more consumers than ever making their own cocktails and drinking at home.”
Earlier this year, Amber Beverage Group appointed Ansis Ancovs as the first global brand ambassador for Rooster Rojo.
